There’s one white egg snuggled on Papa’s feet in a land of ice and snow. And two eggs, stuck together, warmed by a furry tail in a tunnel by a stream. There are three eggs, tiny as jewels, laid by a fluttery Mom on tasty plants of green—and four eggs of sky blue, in a nest of grass and mud on a branch in someone’s backyard. Seven eggs, oval and white, buried by two hind feet in the sand by the pond. Ten eggs, bigger than big, laid by the largest bird in the world. From one up to ten, there are all kinds of eggs laid by all kinds of parents in all sorts of places. And who will these babies be when the eggs finally hatch? You’ll just have to wait and see.
